In 1953, Rolex decided to create SUBMARINER. It originated from the design department. The main designer Jacques Cousteau used to serve as a navy who loved diving so much. He often went into deep sea and attached importance to a reliable chronometer. SUBMARINER has to have: good identification at the bottom of sea. Big black nightlight hand with high contrast rate. Good antimagnetic and water resistant. Good resistance to corrosion and variations in temperature. Then it was created and became a favorite in Rolex and specially loved by divers.
